Did you miss the annual member meeting (we’ll forgive you…the Indians were making history!)? 😀
Amended By-Laws and membership dues were proposed by the Board and approved by the membership. The presentation with important information is available for your review here.
Please contact the Board of Directors with any questions at email@example.com.
Dear Fairlawn Swim and Tennis Members,
Just a friendly reminder that our annual meeting is scheduled on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at 6:30 pm at the Northwest Ayers Library.
We highly recommend that you attend this meeting as we have several important things to discuss. We are proposing some changes to the bylaws that must be approved.
We are also proposing a nominal dues increase of $35.00 for the coming year. We have just completed our third year without an assessment and our sixth year without a dues increase. We would like to share our rational and reasons why this increase makes sense to the health of our Club. You are welcome to join the discussion so that we may all have a hand in this important decision.
Additionally, there are four Board positions available and your support is crucial. Please consider running for a position. If you would like any information about duties and responsibilities, please contact one of the current members. If you plan to run, please let us know so that we may have your name on the ballot.
We look forward to seeing you on the October 26th.
Fairlawn Swim and Tennis Board
Dear Fairlawn Swim and Tennis Members,
It’s hard to believe that summer is over and we are already planning for next season. Overall, the weather cooperated and we had great participation in all of our programs. The conditions for tennis have been great during this sunny September. There are several items of news which the Board would like to pass on at this time.
We are sorry to report that our current Club Manager, John Conner, will not be returning next season. He has decided to spend more time with his young family during the summer months. We were blessed to have him operate our Club for the past six years and we wish him all the best. In the off season, we will be conducting a search for a new Club Manager. We have several interesting leads, and would like to broaden our reach so we can hire the best possible candidate for the job. If you know of anyone who would be interested in the position, please contact one of the Board Members. We plan on making a decision this fall as summer always comes quickly.
Additionally, there will be four Board positions open for the next season. Please consider holding a position on our Board. Responsibilities include attending one meeting per month with additional work during the summer. Many assignments can often be done on your own schedule. With the technology of e-mail and text messages, many issues can be dealt with immediately and seamlessly. Being a part of the Board is a great way to meet other members and to help guide our Club in a healthy direction for the future. The term commitment is 3 years, and can be renewed once for a maximum of 6 years. Anyone interested, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org so that your name may be placed on the ballot at our upcoming annual meeting.
Lastly, please put the date of our ANNUAL MEETING on your calendars. It will be Wednesday, October 26 at 6:30 pm in the large meeting room at Northwest Ayers Library (1720 Shatto Ave, Akron 44313). We will offer an overview of finances and membership, as well as hold Board elections. Hope to see you all there.
John Novak, President FS&T
Greetings Fairlawn Swim and Tennis Members,
As the days become warmer and longer, we are busy dusting off the cobwebs and getting the Club ready for another summer of activity. Here is some information we would like to relay to you before the season begins.
*** STAFF UPDATE ***
We have a new Assistant Club Manager as Carl Shallenburger has decided not to return this year. John Nauer will now assist our returning Manager, John Conner. Many of you may remember John from previous years. He is excited and energized to be back at our Club. Please take time to introduce yourself to John when you see him on duty.
Emma Round will be returning as our Head Swim Team Coach. She will be assisted by Claire Hardman, Tatum Carlson, and Sam Darwish. We are hopeful to have a lot of member and parent participation with our team. Check out our website for sign ups and pertinent information.
Our Synchronized Swimming Program will continue with three new Coaches. Kate Eickhoff, Olivia Kirschbaum, and Hannah Stutler are excited to bring new energy to girls who would like to learn about this creative activity.
Alan Walker is returning as our Tennis Pro this year. He will be assisted by a knowledgeable group of young people to make your tennis experience enjoyable.
There is a large number of returning lifeguards as well as many new faces. Please look for guard pictures on the bulletin board near the locker rooms so you may become acquainted with them.
*** GUESTS ***
In an effort to enhance communication and streamline our billing process for guest fees, we are initiating a new check in procedure at the Club. Each member will be assigned a four digit number which they will give to the guard on duty as well as their name and number of guests in attendance at the Club that day. In the interest of safety, guests will also be asked to give their name and contact information so that we have a daily accounting of who is using our facility. Please check in with the guard on duty whether or not you are bringing guests. Please be patient. Our Club operates largely as an honor system which only works if we all follow the rules. Kelley, our accountant, will soon be contacting you with your member number.
*** CLUB RULES ***
Please take time to review the Club Bylaws and Rules which are found on our website. This is YOUR Club and mutual respect in regards to behavior and child supervision allow for the enjoyment of the Club by all. Our qualified staff is here to assist you in creating a SAFE, fun environment. Remember when driving through the parking lot that there are many small children present who may be hard to see. Take your time so we can all avoid accidents.
*** OPEN HOUSES ***
We will hold Open Houses for prospective members on Saturday, May 28, and Saturday, June 4 from 12 to 3. Board Members will be available to give tours and information for all who may be interested. Please talk to your friends and neighbors and invite them to attend. Approach someone down the street, in your Church, school, or daycare about the Open House to invigorate our membership. The fiscal health of Fairlawn Swim and Tennis is dependent upon our ability to attract new members.
